A New Cohort is Opening!

If you are a professional mentor/supervisor (or are considering the path to becoming one) do you ever wonder if you have the proper foundation for the work ahead? Do you want to ensure you have the essential competencies needed for this job? Well, there is good news… Verve Lead is excited to offer a new opportunity. We are opening a new cohort meant for you!

Whether you are an established mentor/supervisor or simply interested in the idea of establishing a mentoring/supervising ministry, this cohort will be a great way to inspire you, to challenge you and to help you strengthen your skills and grow as a leader. This cohort is also an excellent tool for professional development, both a source of training and also a way to see if you are the right person to be trained. It aims to ensure quality in mentors/supervisors and to provide the best tools to help lift your own well-being and that others.

Our Cohort is based on 10 essential mentoring competencies. Throughout the cohort, we will explore each competency and why it matters.

There are six foundational competencies:

  1. Keeping It Spiritual: Assuring the mentoring relationship and transformation of the mentee is Christ-Centered.
  2. Building a Relational Bond: Establishing trust, a safe environment and support.
  3. Catalyzing Self-Reflection: Guiding mentees to look honestly at themselves, embrace who they really are and what needs to change to move in a healthy direction.
  4. Investigative Inquiry and Discernment: Gaining a deep understanding of mentees and their context, relationships and circumstances.
  5. Empowering Transformative Action: Facilitating movement toward the mentee’s greater health and well-being.
  6. Challenging and Confronting: Discerning when and how to address tough issues needing acknowledgement, embrace, and personal action.

Two Master level competencies:

  1. Principled in Practice: Adhering to core values and beliefs rooted in sound doctrine.
  2. Evaluating Process: Analyzing mentoring for effectiveness and adjusting for greater positive outcomes.

And two Organisation Essentials (9-10 are different from the other behavioural categories in that they aren’t mentoring-specific behaviours but behaviours that all Christian Leadership Mentors must have in place to safeguard themselves and their mentoring relationships:

9.  Risk Management: Neutralizing potential harm and danger to self, supervisees, mentees and others.

10. Administration: Organizing and planning to ensure a sound execution and flow of work.
